While manual (hands-on) therapies have been around in various forms for thousands of years, this presentation will introduce recent advances and their contributions to improved wellness. A short introduction on the main types of “touch” therapies will precede the main topic, followed by a few demonstrations using people attending this event. The main topic will focus on how the body reacts to stress and trauma and ways to enhance recovery.

Tim Russell is a manual therapist specializing in various forms of soft tissue therapies. Tim earned a B.S. in Psychology in 1988, a certification in Massage Therapy in 1992 and a certification in Neuromuscular Therapy in 1993. He has continued to enhance his understanding of the body with studies in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Mobilization, Myofascial Release, Lymph Therapy, Neural Tissue Release, Somato-Emotional Release and T’ai Chi.
