Tim Russell

Mr. Tim Russell began his study of the martial arts in 1982 by training in Wado Ryu Karate with Sensei Paul Varner. He continued his studies with Sensei Jeff Day, director of the Matsukazi Budo Kai Martial Arts Academies, who taught him Shito Ryu Karate and later began his training in Yang style Taiji Quan. Mr. Russell continued his study of the Yang style short form, popularized by Professor Cheng Man Cheng, with Dr. Min-Nan Sze.

Mr. Russell has been studying with Dr. Zibin Guo since 1998, deepening his studies of the Yang style as well as beginning the study of the roots of Tai Chi with the Chen family style. He has been promoting and teaching Tai Chi in a variety of locations since 1996 and currently teaches at the Chattanooga Lifestyle Center.

Mr. Russell has a B.S. in Psychology from Tennessee Technological University and now works as a manual therapist at the Center for Integrative Medicine located at Erlanger’s East Campus. He specializes in various forms of bodywork including Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Visceral Mobilization, and Somato Emotional Release.
